Child Nutrition and the District

Nutrition Services is proud to be a member of the education team at San Dieguito Union High School District supporting your children.  We serve over 1 million meals per school year through the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch programs.

Meals are also served to enrolled summer school and extended school year students.  The National School Breakfast and Lunch programs strive to ensure that all children have access to healthy meals at school to promote learning readiness and healthy eating behavaiors.  As a partner in education, our team of 60 school nutrition professionals work diligently to provide nutritious food in a safe and healthy environment.

About the Department

Nutrition Serivces is a self-sufficient enterprise, all revenues received from federal and state funding and earned from food sales are used to maintain department staffing, equipment, food and supplies, and training.

The Nutrition Services administrative office is located at: 675 Balour Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.  Please feel free to contact us at 760-753-6241 x 3426 if you have any questions or concerns regarding Nutrition Services. 

California Universal Meals

Beginning school year 2022-23, all district schools will particiapte in the California Universal Meals Program (AB 130), which provides "one" breakfast and "one" lunch, free of charge, per school day to in-person students requesting a meal.  Students are required to use their unique student ID number or scannable barcode for all meal transactions.

Smart Snacks available for purchase

Students may purchase Smart Snack approved food items from the school cafes during meal periods, based on availability.  Smart Snacks are available on most school campuses through approved vending machines. School cafes accept payment via the SchoolCafe prepaid meal account or cash.  Vending machines accept cash.
